We’ve all experienced how it is to feel unsure about our career direction. To not know what we want to do or what we should be doing, or could be doing.
When we’re in the middle of career indecision, it can feel as if we’re stuck in a dark tunnel looking for any speck of light to show us the way out.
My guest, Alice Karolina, is no stranger to this frustrating career phase. Alice Karolina is a graphic designer, interior architect, communications strategist, and branding expert all rolled into one.
But it took her a while to figure things out and to position herself for the kind of work she really wants to do.
With design being her first love, she initially pursued this career path by going to a design school in Switzerland, only for her dreams to be squashed when she was told that she wasn’t creative enough and that she was a one-idea girl.
Frustrated and disillusioned about the industry that she wanted to be a part of, she left art school and design. What followed were years of experimenting and trying out different careers. In her words, Alice was in limbo. It was harrowing. But it was also amazing and a huge learning experience for her.
One very real issue in limbo is that you have decision fatigue all the time. You’re constantly making decisions. You’re constantly thinking about where you’re going next.
In this episode, Alice graciously shares her experience. What it felt like to be in career limbo, what helped her through the years, and how she found her career fit.
