Eagle Eyes

Illustration of an eagle with 6B pencil and a red line crossing the eyes to represent focus

A giant eagle swooped down over top of me this morning on my run and it landed in a tree right next to the path.

It looked down at me and then lifted off, over the ocean, chased by crows.

Predators fascinate me – especially their eyes. They seem to be from another time ..and they are kind. Vicious. Determined. Clear.

Each time I draw their eyes, it’s like I’m looking through the layers of the natural world.

I added the texture of the ocean into the feathers and the singularity of the eagle’s focus with the red line.
