Go Where The Light Is

ID: “Go where the light is” handwritten. Quote is from a book by Jo Nesbrø where the main character is following clues to solve crimes.

6 weeks ago, I decided to create a weekly content series to have consistent flow, give insight into what I do, and provide value to those developing their voice.

Well.

It has created a lot of work. And not a lot of reward.

My anxiety and ADHD are flaring, I worked during my vacation, and the few people engaging are those who know me already.

When I hit a wall like this, I use “Go where the light is” as a guide to move forward. And for me, the light is in community and connection; not in broadcasting.

So I’m going to stop ‘posting content’! 🥳

Among the many reasons:

  • I believe in meaning vs. more. I want everything I create to be artful and have a point. Battling a fleeting algorithm and competing for attention is not that.

  • Clutter jams up my ADHD brain and social is messy! I waste so much processing capacity checking + sorting information.

  • Keeping up, learning ever new tools to make it work... is not for me.

  • Content rarely brings me clients but takes lots of time + energy – cost/benefit simply don’t add up.

  • Social is an ethical conundrum. Yes, it can be a tool for Liberation. And, are we missing something because of all the noise?

As for the content series:

  • Instead of writing, I’ll start hosting hangouts for real connection.

  • I’m building a Notion framework as a true DIY guide for those developing their voice.

  • I have a monthly email that I love writing and my readers enjoy. That’s also where I’ll share the framework and hangout info once they’re ready.

I’m so excited for all the time, energy, and capacity I’m freeing up with this!

I’ll let you know how it goes in my Monthly 😅
